Welcome to Rainbow Ridge Farms
We began our adventure in 1996, when we moved here from Washington DC. Neither of us had any real farm experience, so it was a lot of on-the-job learning! We started with two Saanen wethers and soon added a couple of angora wethers and a baby ram lamb. After I learned about fainting goats, I had to add them to our herd. Our herd continued to expand with pygmy goats. We became active in the La Crosse County 4-H program and that was where our love of dairy goats began. We have been raising and showing dairy goats since 2003. We go to an average of 4 shows per year and in 2010, we participated in our first ADGA National Show in Lousiville, KY. We continue to participate in several shows per year along with WI State Fair and the ADGA National Show. We do Linear Appraisal every other year and have been on DHIR since 2010. We were the first goat herd on DHIR in La Crosse County!
We also have to add that we are SOOO proud of our 4-H kids and their parents. The kids that show our goats live in an area where they cannot have farm animals. They have to put in extra effort to come out to the farm, work with "their" goat, and learn all the how's and why's. In 2013, eight kids went to the National Show to see how they ranked. I am so proud to say that Greyson T. was the 4th place Junior Showman, Madelyn P. was 7th place Junior Showman, Emma T. was the 5th place Intermediate I Showman, and Maria M made the cut for Intermediate II Showman. Maria M's fitting team was #2!!! Violette H-M was the 7th place Junior Judging and Management. At the 2014 ADGA National Show, Emma placed 8th in Intermediate I showmanship and Grey placed in the 6th in Junior Showmanship. Emma also placed 10th in Judging and Management. A return trip to the 2015 National Show in Louisville was filled with a lot of fun and success too. Two of our senior showman walked into the showmanship ring with only one show under their belt!
